Message in a Bottle – by Millie

I sent a message in a bottle.

I sketched a nice picture of the family on one side of the page…

… and on the other side of the page I wrote the message.  I brainstormed about what to write in my message.  I wrote my Mom’s email address so if anyone finds our message they can contact us.  I wrote my age, my name, where I am from and where we dropped the bottle.

We had an empty wine bottle with a cork.  We rolled the message up and tied it with a string so it could fit in the bottle.

We put the cork in so the message didn’t get wet.

 I wore my life jacket with a safety harness when I was throwing the bottle overboard so I didn’t fall off the boat.

I threw it into the Caribbean Sea between Statia (St. Eustatius) and St. Barth’s (St. Barthelemy).  We watched it go and I hope someone will find it someday.

    I am happy to know that you included a drawing along with your message in the bottle. How exciting to think that someone will someday find the bottle, read the message, see the drawing and then make contact with you. I wonder who that someone will be!🤔😘♥️

  3. Hi Millie, I’ve heard some incredible stories of messages in a bottle being found from over a hundred years ago…hopefully you won’t have to wait that long!

    I can imagine whoever finds your message will wonder what your life was like and be curious about who you are.

  5. Great idea Millie! I bet you can’t wait for someone to find your bottle. …I will be waiting to hear from you. Hope to see you one of these days. The last time I saw you was at your uncle Russ’s wedding and you have grown up to be such a lovely looking gal!

  6. What great feeling of excitement for you Millie! As I mentioned earlier, I hope the bottle ends up in the Rideau River here in Ottawa so I will have a good chance of finding it! We are all looking forward to seeing you again in Victoria or Ottawa in the near future! Lots of love, Nana ❤️

  7. What a great idea, Millie. I think your printing is excellent and I love your drawing of the four of you. I especially like how you and your mom are wearing fancy dresses and shoes in the drawing. Maybe you were at a wedding? I hope one day you find out who found your message. Maybe it will be a girl who is 8. Maybe she will be in Spain, or Tunisia, or Ireland, or Scotland. Sending big hugs from all of us. Xoxo
